Help Us Get To Howard!

Approximately 6 months ago at the height of what students at the Academy For Young Writers (AFYW) in East New York Brooklyn, thought was racial unjust, a black student union was formed. This unjust sparked about 30 students to hold a silent and peaceful protest in the halls of our high school until our voices were heard and our demands were met by our school administrators. Since then, the Black Lives Matter Movement (BLMM) at AFYW has met on a weekly basis to discuss ways to branch out and support the ever evolving cause that is BLMM.

As young African American high school students , we understand the importance of education and realize it's the only way to get out of any situation including an impoverished neighborhood like East New York, Brooklyn, the place our school and many of our members call home. That is why the members of the BLMM at AFYW have planned an overnight trip for all 20 odd members and our two adult advisors to visit the illustrious Howard University in the Spring of 2017 to learn more about Historically Black Colleges and Universities. But we know opportunities like this aren't cheap and easy to attain. So in addition to any proceeds that we make from this go fund me, we will also continue to fundraise throughout our school by hosting multiple events paid for by our members to hopefully gain profit towards our goal.

Any donations no matter how small, are vastly appreciated. Every dollar counts so please help us, a student led group from East New York, Brooklyn, to reach our goal and get to tour Howard University!
