Help Build the Movement for Repairs!

We are a group of Black and non-Black folks of color with most of us representing marginalized genders from economic, racial and gender justice movements in the US and working on reparations.


From December 5-9, 2018 we will be attending the Recognition, Reparation, Reconciliation conference held at at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa. “The conference aims to deepen understanding of the transgenerational repercussions of traumatic pasts in a range of cultural contexts, to explore how different disciplines represent this transgenerational phenomenon, and through a comparative lens, to contribute to new knowledge production in this area of research.”


We are almost halfway to reaching our goal! With your help, we know we can raise it all!


Each one of us is doing work that addresses the impact of traumatic pasts and how they show up in our communities today. Part of that work includes building movements that ensure repair for the hurt, harm, abuse, trauma communities and the people in them have and continue to suffer. This experience will be a profound opportunity to connect with others who have been part of or are currently engaged in reparations and reconciliation and expand how we envision building repair into our movements.


Supporting us as we look to learn more about international reparations efforts from experts (with literal PhDs in "truth" and "memory"!) will reduce upfront costs for those with families or experience work slowdowns at the end of the year.


This conference will also be intensely emotional for many of us in a place that has tremendous history.  Your support allows us to worry about one less thing while we process what we learn and deal with whatever comes up in terms of trauma.
