Help us get our Talia back
Hello all -
Talia always has the brightest and most infectious smile. She has the gift of being able to make friends everywhere she goes; people are so drawn to her spirit and light. Her family, both chosen and by birth, love her fiercely and we are still at a loss at what has happened.
Talia suffered multiple strokes deep in the brain, resulting in extensive damage which left her unresponsive and in a sleep-like state. She was admitted to the ICU on March 27. At first, she was unresponsive and completely unaware of her surroundings, doctors were not sure what to expect.
As the weeks progressed, she has shown incredible progress! She is a warrior!
She cannot walk nor sit on her own but can now follow basic commands and have some soft dialogue. She is in need of long-term intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy if she is able going to have a chance at a full recovery.
Talia is an only child and the only caretaker of her mother who is suffering from early-onset dementia and depends solely on Talia. Unfortunately, Talia is going to be out of work for the foreseeable future and will require round-the-clock home care until she is fully recovered. She has always worried more about others than she does about herself. Life has tested Talia greatly in these last several years, but she continues to have faith in God and remains strong for those that depend on her.
Now, it’s our turn to be strong for Talia! We are hoping to raise funds that will assist in Talia receiving the best possible long-term care she requires. According to her doctors, she has a long road ahead but is fighting every second of every day to come back to us!
Thank you!
Update #1: Talia's vitals are stable enough and she has been moved to a rehab facility to begin receiving intensive physical therapy. Currently, she cannot sit, stand, walk, nor eat. She also spends a large majority of the day sleeping. She has a long way to come, but we are hopeful for positive results. Please keep Talia in your mind and prayers. Thank you all!
