On December 16, 2023, my 34-year-old brother’s life changed forever when he was tragically shot in the back of the head. Since then, he has faced unimaginable challenges, including neglect from multiple nursing homes that failed to provide him with the proper care he desperately needed.

Due to this negligence, he has been in and out of the hospital battling severe pneumonia, urinary tract infections, seizures, and respiratory infections. One of the most devastating consequences of this inadequate care has been the severe contraction of his legs, requiring a major reconstructive surgery to restore mobility. Additionally, while in the hospital, doctors had to remove all of his teeth due to a widespread infection in his body.

Despite our family’s tireless efforts to secure the best care for him, we have faced significant obstacles. His Medicaid coverage only provides the bare minimum, leaving him without access to the specialized treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation he needs to regain his independence. Our goal is to get him the proper care so he can recover and return home to his son and our family.
