<div>I’m the mother of the Marine that was killed. My name is Gloria Ortiz and I’m raising funds to bring justice to my son to uncover the murder. My son was stationed in Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan. He was 21 years old and the Military/NCIS has done minimal steps to solve it. Now I’m forced to raise funds to hire a Private Investigator and a Legal Team because they have failed my son.

<div>My son LCpl Ronald Valentin was found murdered six years ago in a ditch 200 feet away from a Sergeants residence that he was hanging out with on the Labor Day (August 31, 2018) weekend at a Marine base in Okinawa, Japan. On September 6th, 2018, Ronald's decomposed body was identified by his dental records. Ronald had been missing for seven days and i was not made aware until September 5, 2018.

<div>My family and I had to have a closed casket funeral and never personally identified him in person, only by video of a tattoo. When we received his body from the Marines at the airport it was revealed as we were leaving the airport that we had THE WRONG BODY and the wrong casket to my family and me. They did the entire bereavement for the wrong body; LCpl Ronald Valentin never got his bereavement the right way. IMAGINE the pain this whole en-devour inflicted on me, sisters, brother, cousins, uncles, grandparents, nieces, nephews, and friends. It has been SIX YEARS, and we still have no answers, no justice. There is plenty of evidence, and the NCIS is dragging their feet. The Marines and NCIS aren't able to hold anyone accountable. The United States Military has a serious issue with ACCOUNTABILITY and keeping their troop's safe while on deployment and on bases closer to home.

<div>The cause of death was BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA to the side back of his head. The last time my son Ronald was seen was leaving work on August 31st. He went back to his room to change and get ready for the night. He had a pack of beer in his backpack (according to his roommate), took a bus to the Sergeant's residence, met with him and other Pvts as well. He was never seen again after that night. NCIS says the case is still ongoing, and after six years, we have no answers, no justice, no peace. No one saw anything, and the cameras weren't working. Those who last saw Ronald claim Ronald left the room to make a phone call and never returned, leaving his backpack behind. Ronald always wore glasses, and they have not been found till this day. As Ronald's mother, I know for a fact that my son NEVER went anywhere without his glasses unless he took them off to go to sleep. He could hardly see without them. He also disliked beer very much, and his toxicology report returned negative. The Sergeant brought Ronald's backpack to Ronald's job because he didn't know where Ronald lived. Since they worked together, he brought it there to give him his backpack; the Sergeant said he didn't know Ronald was missing. They keep giving me different stories, and there are holes in the story.

<div>My son Ronald was a great man with an even greater future. He was a caring, loving, intelligent, sweet, hardworking, family-oriented, motivated and determined young man. He always stayed out of trouble. He enjoyed spending time with family and close friends, going to the movies and getting together. He loved playing basketball with his brother and friends, games, Play-station and workout.

<div>Ronald was the type of man who would give the shirt off his back for a friend and the last dollar in his wallet. Ronald was the type of man that brought people together; he was like glue. He was a family man down to his core. His personality was golden, and his sense of humor was unmatched. He was a once-in-a-lifetime type of friend, son, brother, uncle and family member. He dropped out of the University of Maine to pursue his lifelong dream, serving his country and becoming a Marine. He had big dreams and aspirations of owning a clothing brand, becoming an entrepreneur, and giving back to his community, uplifting the younger generation. He had goals and a plan after he finished serving his country. He was a smart man with a strong work ethic. He also dreamed of pursuing a career in criminal justice as either a CIA or FBI Agent, and unfortunately, my son's dreams and goals got taken away.
