Tyson's diagnosis and treatment

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

Over a week ago, Tyson started to have diarrhea. We thought it was an upset stomach from eating something that didn't agree with him , so we tried to give him pumpkin, boiled chicken & rice, and Fortiflora. A few days later, he stopped eating. At first he was refusing food, but still accepting treats. A day after he started to refuse his meals, he started to refuse his treats. We knew something was seriously wrong. How could our food motivated dog refuse everything??

He has gotten a blood test, urinalysis, fecal test, x-ray, and an ultrasound. His blood test, urinalysis, and fecal results were all normal. His x-ray showed a thick stomach wall, which we thought was gastroenteritis. We were given medication and had high hopes he would be better. It didn't work-he still wasn't eating, drinking a lot of water, and he still had diarrhea. He then went in for an ultrasound at the Er vet hospital. The ultrasound confirmed a thick stomach wall. They found fluid in the intestines, which was consistent with his diarrhea. He has decreased intestinal motility, small intestine inflammation, as well as enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. He was prescribed an appetite stimulant and a medication to help him move that fluid out. We were really hoping this was it and he would start feeling better. Sadly, even with his appetite stimulant, Tyson has no desire to eat.

We are struggling to give him all the meds he was prescribed (imagine wrestling with an alligator), getting fluid into him, and food. He was dehydrated at the vet so they gave him fluids. I also approved to have them tube feed him just to get something into his stomach. He's thrown up water and is losing energy fast. Our next step is to go to an internist to check the enlarged lymph nodes.

We have scheduled an appointment with another vet office for a second opinion and have been in contact with an office to get him an appointment with an internist.

With all the check ups, second opinion, medication (one of which was $92), and tests my family has been struggling to keep up and we still need to do more tests to really find out what’s going on with Tyson.

We are so overwhelmed with emotion. We just want our dog back to normal.

My family and I have finally decided to ask help for accruing medical expenses so we can see an internist and continue all necessary testing to figure out what's wrong . Should there be any excess I will donate it to a dog rescue.

All receipts will be posted here as well.

We are heartbroken but we want Tyson to get better.

QThank you everyone for your love and support.
