Help Us Fund Our Latest Rescued Otter Cubs Rehab

Tax deductible
You can make a difference by donating today to UK Wild Otter Trust. We are a wildlife conservation charity specialising in the Eurasian otter. This fundraiser is to raise money to help fund our latest rescue cubs first couple months of rehab.

On the 7th of January we rescued our first Eurasian otter cub of the year. The little girl was found alone in De Lank Quarry on Bodmin Moor. Our founder Dave Webb went to pick her up yesterday. She was cold and tired but was brighter after being warmed up with a heat pad.

Here she is in a towel warming up on the way to Dave's house.

Here she is safe at Dave's and a lot brighter after warming up.

On 8th of January she was doing good and was eating fish. Here she is after a warm nights sleep and her breakfast.

2021 was our busiest year yet with 35 cubs rescued which put a drain on our bank balance. So this fundraiser will be a great help as we anticipate another busy year. The rehabilitation of one cub takes around £2000 in total so this fundraiser will help fund the first couple months of her rehab.

We’re often called upon to help with orphaned, injured and rescued otter cubs that have been found alone and in need of care. Looking after otter cubs is a specialist endeavour and there are few organisations in the UK able to carry out this work. We have to replicate the mother’s natural behaviour with the cubs – and this means that we have each cub for at least a year, teaching it to hunt, swim, play, fight, and, importantly, how to be a wild otter! This is a very hands-off and complex process, as we can’t afford to let a cub become humanised or imprinted.
