25 июля 2019 года на Аляске при попытке пересечь реку Teklanika погибла 24-летняя девушка, гражданка Беларуси - режиссерка-документалистка Ника Никонова.
On July 25, 2019, in Alaska, a 24-year-old girl, a Belarusian citizen - documentary filmmaker Nika Nikonova, died while was trying to cross the Teklanika River.
Ника Никонова и ее муж Петр Маркелов хотели добраться до заброшенного автобуса, в котором жил и умер Кристофер Маккэндлесс, ставший героем книги Джона Кракауэра «В диких условиях». Пара провела 2 ночи в автобусе, но на обратном пути произошла трагедия. Из-за сильного течения Ника потеряла равновесие и стала тонуть. Петр предпринял попытку спасти Нику, но к тому моменту, когда ему удалось вытащить жену на берег она уже более пяти минут находилось без сознания под водой. Около 20 минут он повторял процедуры: делал массаж сердца, вдыхал воздух в легкие, но спасти супругу не удалось.
Nika Nikonova and her husband Peter Markelov wanted to get to an abandoned bus in which Christopher McCandless lived and died, becoming the hero of John Krakauer's book In the Wild. The couple spent 2 nights in the bus, but on the way back the tragedy has happened. Due to the strong current Nika lost her balance and began to sink. Peter attempted to save Nika, but by the time he managed to pull his wife ashore, she had been unconscious for more than five minutes underwater. He repeated the first aid procedures for about 20 minutes: he did a heart massage, he inhaled air into the lungs, but unfortunately he was unable to save his spouse.

В данный момент все родственники Ники находятся за пределами территории США. В первую очередь мы хотим помочь собрать как можно скорее средства на перелет для матери погибшей девушки, Ольге Никоновой.
At the moment, all the relatives of Nika are outside the United States. First of all, we want to help raise as soon as possible the funds for the flight for the mother of the deceased girl, Olga Nikonova.
В реке молодая пара также потеряла все свои документы, телефоны, банковские карты и деньги. До 30 июля, мы хотим собрать средства для мужа и матери погибшей Петра Меркелова и Ольге Никоновой, чтобы помочь им покрыть расходы, связанные с перелётами и похоронами.
In the river, a young couple also lost all their documents, phone numbers, bank cards and money. Until July 30th we want to raise funds for Peter Merkelov to help him and the mother of the deceased to cover the costs of the flights and funeral.
