OUR STORY
After months of dedication, passion, and hard work, we are in the final stretch of completing Finding Calm—a powerful short film exploring a father’s struggle with mental health during the postnatal period.
WHY ARE WE MAKING IT?
The story of Finding Calm, and our lead character's struggles as portrayed within the film, feel timely with their potential to contribute to the ever-amplifying conversation about male mental health. And its power lies in the specificity of highlighting the issue of paternal postnatal depression; an issue that is little-discussed and ill-represented on screen.
Within this exploration of a very particular issue however, are wider, universal truths about human nature; how we respond to challenges, how we navigate relationships, and how we can both long-for and struggle with making connections and the impact that can have.
FINDING OUR AUDIENCE
Thinking ahead to our ambitions for exhibiting this film, whilst we would be keen to aim for a premiere at one of the top tier festivals, we are also conscious of wanting it to land with as wide an audience as possible given its potential for opening up conversations about a difficult subject and highlighting paternal PND. To that end, once the film has premiered we would look to undertake a run that includes local festivals across the UK, where we can potentially attend and drive the conversation beyond the short.
WHAT NOW?
With filming complete, we now need just a bit more help to finish the final stages of post-production. Every film deserves to sound and look its best, and to do that, we need to raise additional funds to complete the sound design, color grading, and a festival run to share this important story with the world.
What We Need Help With:
• Sound Design & Mixing – To bring the emotional depth and authenticity of the story to life.
• Color Grading – To enhance the film’s visuals and ensure it looks stunning on the big screen.
• Festival Submissions – To give Finding Calm the best chance at reaching audiences globally, sparking conversations, and making an impact.
How You Can Help:
Any donation, big or small, brings us closer to finishing the film and sharing it with the world. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with others who may be interested is just as valuable!
We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received so far and can’t wait to complete this journey with you.
