Help Us Find Justice For Mom After a Hit-and-Run

My name is Lizzy Chen. I moved to Seattle from China with my parents when I was 13 years old. I grew up here, went to Roosevelt High School, and later graduated from the University of Washington. My parents have worked hard their entire lives—both of them are employees at the Hyatt Hotel Seattle. We are a close, loving family, and they’ve always given everything to build a better life for me.

Now, just as they were approaching 60 and beginning to look forward to retirement, everything changed.

On 4/18, both of my parents were hit by a motorcycle that ran a red light at high speed near MLK Jr Way S and S Alaska St in South Seattle. The rider fled the scene, leaving them both on the ground.

My mother was critically injured and rushed to the ICU, where she fought for her life for days. On 4/20, she passed away from her injuries. We are heartbroken beyond words.

My father survived, but he sustained serious injuries to his spine and knees. He is in pain, recovering physically, and carrying the heavy emotional burden of this loss.

We are sharing our story to raise support and ask for help during this incredibly difficult time. Funds will go towards:

• Funeral and memorial costs for my mother

• Medical treatment and rehabilitation for my father

• Legal and investigative support to help us identify the person responsible

• A bounty/reward fund for information that leads to identifying and locating the hit-and-run driver

• Day-to-day living support as our family grieves and begins to heal
