<div>My mother and I have always done our best to get by, but lately, things have become much harder. We are both on disability, and every month it takes everything we have just to survive. Right now, we’re trying to get a house and some furniture so we can finally have a place to call home, and a car for my mother so she can get to her doctor appointments and we can do our grocery shopping.

<div> A house would mean so much to us—not only would it be more affordable than where we are now, but it would also give us a safe and comfortable place to enjoy each other’s company. Having furniture would mean we could finally relax and sleep in real beds, instead of staying in a roach-infested motel. I’ve been taking care of my mom for over twenty-seven years, and we’ve always managed to get by, but recently we’ve just run into some bad luck.
