Help us restore this old zoo.

Looking to bring back a local treasure!
Jo-Don Farms zoo closed permanently due to the death of the owner, Bob Meyer in Dec 2020. The family was not able to continue the zoo and they sold all of the animals and equipment. For almost 50 years, Jo-Don Farms zoo was a beloved place for families to take their children in order to learn about and enjoy the animals. Being so loved by its patrons, we just couldn’t stand back and let it disappear forever.

A small group of former zookeepers are creating a new zoo at the same location and it will now be called Caledonia Zoological Park. These former keepers, each with over 30 years of experience will be caring for the animals in the collection. A local veterinarian with exotic animal experience will be providing routine health care and establishing an enrichment program for both the mental and physical health of the animals.

Our commitment is that Caledonia Zoological Park provides a quality environment for the animals in their care and not only carries on the zoo tradition but will improve the experience for the animals and patrons alike. Unfortunately, many of the exhibits and the grounds have become run down and are in need of repair. We have many talented people who have already volunteered their time and are currently repairing and rebuilding the exhibits at the zoo.

Since all of the animals were sold, we are forced to start from scratch to replace them. The staff have all pitched in and purchased as many animals as they could but now we need your help to continue to fill all the exhibits.

Our desire is to provide the best possible home for the animals at the zoo, but we are running out of time to get everything fixed and new animals purchased. With additional support, we can make this happen! We would love to hear what animals you would be interested in seeing in the future. We never know what sort of critters may come our way, but we value your thoughts and input. With continued help, we hope to expand the zoo in the coming years.

Our goal is to be ready to open Memorial Day weekend so all of our dedicated zoo lovers will be able to continue to visit the animals. We will be having many new interactive opportunities at the zoo and more educational programs.

If you would like to help us achieve our goal of a wonderful new zoo in Caledonia, any contributions would be greatly appreciated. We would never expect anything from anyone at all, especially in these difficult times. If a donation is not possible, please just share our story with your network of friends and family. Any monetary donations you can provide will be used solely for the benefit and enrichment of the animals. We are excited to bring a zoo back this season and look forward to sharing it with the community.
