Imagine being in a new country, thousands of miles from home, with no job, no family, and sometimes – no food. At Bytown Tiffins, we meet these people every day. Students working night shifts just to afford books. New immigrants skipping meals to send money back home. Elderly neighbors choosing between medicine and groceries.
Over the last decade, hundreds of international students and new immigrants in Canada have lost their lives — not to crime or disaster, but to invisible battles primarily hunger and extreme financial stress.
We believe no one in our community should go hungry – especially not when all they need is a warm, home-cooked meal.
Bytown Tiffins started with one simple mission: to deliver fresh, healthy, homestyle Indian meals to those who miss the taste of home. But now, we want to do more.
We want to create a Pay-It-Forward Tiffin Fund – where every dollar goes toward providing free or subsidized meals to students, newcomers, and families in crisis across Ottawa.
Your donation could mean:
A student getting a warm dinner after a long shift.
A single mother feeding her kids while she gets back on her feet.
A newcomer finding comfort in a familiar taste during tough times.
Every $10 provides one full meal.
$50 can cover a week’s worth of food for someone in need.
Help us show that community still matters. That food isn’t a luxury – it’s a right.
Together, let’s serve love, one tiffin at a time.
