Our story

In the heart Kagoye village, Uganda, there's a story of transformation that begins with a single act of kindness—a sponsorship that changed the course of one life and inspired the birth of an orphanage that now impacts 38 children.

I was once a child in need, growing up in a small village of Kagoye with dreams as big as the sky. The journey to achieve those dreams seemed impossible in the face of adversity, but a beacon of hope arrived in the form of sponsorship. A generous individual believed in my potential and provided the support I needed to access education, nourishment, and a chance for a brighter future.

That act of kindness wasn't just about financial assistance; it was about the belief that I, too, could break free from the cycle of poverty and make something of myself. With unwavering determination and the support of my sponsor, I pursued an education, realizing that knowledge was the key to unlocking opportunities beyond my wildest dreams.

As I grew, so did my gratitude and determination to pay it forward. The impact of that sponsorship wasn't lost on me—it ignited a passion within me to create a home for underprivileged children from my home town Kagoye who were facing challenges similar to what I once endured. And I wasn't alone in this mission. I was joined by two other friends who shared the same dream and dedication.

Together, we embarked on a journey to create a haven for these deserving children who had known the harshness of life, orphaned and abandoned, with little more than dreams in their hearts. And thus, our orphanage was born.

The needs

Today, in Kagoye, we care for 38 children, ranging in age from 3 to 16 years old, 22 boys and 16 girls. Among them, twelve are in lower primary education (nursery to primary two level), 21 are in upper primary education (from primary three to primary seven level), and five are in secondary school (Senior One and Senior Two).

The challenges of sustaining these children’s well-being have grown and we now find ourselves struggling to cover the increasing costs of school fees, feeding, and healthcare.

Your sponsorship will not only continue to provide these 38 children with food, a safe home, and the basic necessities but also the opportunity to receive a quality education. It's an investment in their futures, a belief in their potential, and a commitment to changing their lives.

The costs

Here is an estimate of the costs per child for 38 children for a school term lasting four months (August-December, 2023), with a fundraising goal of $4,294 USD:

Education fees: For each child, we aim to cover school fees, uniforms, books, and other related expenses. On average, this costs approximately $80 per child for a four-month school term.

Total education costs for 38 children (for a term): $80 x 38 = $3,040

Nutrition and meals: To provide nutritious meals during the school term, we spend approximately $25 per child per term. Over a four-month term, this totals:

Healthcare: Healthcare expenses for the term, including regular check-ups and any medical needs, are estimated at approximately $8 per child.

Total healthcare costs for 38 children (for a term): $8 x 38 = $304
