Hello lovely Humans.
My name is Ronja, I'm the black cat in the pictures, and I come to all of you to plead for aid.
My humans rescued me when I was very young from a too small and dirty cage.
I was in poor shape, riddled with parasites and malnourished. My new home is different though.
I'm loved and cared for, get the best food and can live a proper cat's life.
I do however suffer from a condition that makes my skin itch really bad!
It's so horrible sometimes that I scratch bone deep wounds into my skin.
My humans and I tried so many things our vets reccomended, from parasite treatments to skin biopsies over elimination diets to steroid injections.
But we can't find a cure.
Our temporary solution is to cover my claws with gel-caps so it's harder for me to damage my own skin further. It's not great, it limits my ability to climb and hunt but my humans say I have to wear them until we find a solution for my problem.
As hard as it is for me, the most horrible thing is that I have passed this condition down to my daughter.
She lives with a relative of my humans and suffers the same itchy skin condition. It's so unbearable to see everyone try so hard to make our lives better but nothing seems to work and neither we nor the vets have been able to pin down the problem.
We got a referal to a specialized dermatology clinic in Glasgow who assured us they are able to get it sorted or at least identified and managed so that after years of trial and error we can have a good life without constant pain.
Sadly a 30 minute phone call with them alone was very expensive (270£) and the tests they would need to do come to around 900£ per cat.
It breaks my heart to see a solution for us on the horizon, but money is a barrier that prolongs the suffering.
Our humans work a lot and spend so much time, energy and money on keeping us in a good spot in life but really struggle to keep that much put to the side.
This is why I set up this GoFundMe, for any and all of you who would like to help us break that barrier and help make all of us happy and healthy!
Thank you all very much for reading my story and for any consideration of assistance.
