At Skäftekärr Archaeological Open-Air Museum, we are dedicated to bringing Sweden’s fascinating Iron Age history to life in a way that is accessible and engaging for all visitors. Our museum allows guests to step back in time, explore historical reconstructions, and connect with the ancient past through interactive experiences, all set in the beautiful Swedish countryside.

However, we need your help to complete a crucial project!

We are working hard to build a handicap accessible toilet, which will ensure that all visitors, regardless of mobility, can fully enjoy the museum and all that it offers. Accessibility is at the heart of our mission. Our goal is to create an outdoor museum where everyone has the opportunity to learn, explore, and experience Swedish history during the Iron Age in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This project is led by Fornverkstan, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the recreation of the Iron Age farm at Skäftekärr. Fornverkstan is also responsible for hosting the open-air museum and overseeing many of the hands-on activities that bring history to life. With the help of passionate volunteers, they are building the Iron Age structures, maintaining the museum, and ensuring that the historical experience is as authentic as possible.

The construction of the accessible toilet is a critical part of our ongoing work to make the museum open and accessible to everyone.
