My son has dedicated years of hard work and passion to curling, and now he has achieved his dream of competing in the Olympics in Italy this February. His stepmother and I are incredibly proud and want nothing more than to be there in person to support him as he represents his country and strives for an Olympic gold medal. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our family, and being present would mean so much to my son as he lives out his lifelong dream. 
 
 
 However, the costs of traveling to and staying in an area hosting the Olympic Games are incredibly high. Airfare, lodging, food, and renting a car quickly add up, making it difficult for us to afford the trip on our own. We want to be there to cheer him on, offer our support, and share in this unforgettable experience, but we need a little help to make it possible. 
 
 
 We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support. Any contribution, no matter the size, would help offset the expenses and bring us closer to being there for my son during this special moment.  As a professional pianist of over 40 years, I’d also like to offer a special thank you: For supporters who give at a generous level, I will make a recording of myself playing a song or piece of your choice, and send it to you as my personal thank you. A few caveats: please don’t ask for a full-length, very difficult piano piece (like a piano sonata), and try to pick something you know would sound good on solo piano. Pop songs, standards, musical theater, and light classical are all fair game. If I can’t track down the music or don’t already have it, I might ask for an alternate selection.
