About KEQI
Karagwe Education Quality Improvement (KEQI) is a registered Tanzanian Non-Government Organization. Since its inception, KEQI has worked to improve education quality of community schools in Karagwe District, Tanzania.

Our Project
Please support our project; Karagwe Secondary Education Quality Improvement which has the goal of improving sanitation facilities, and hygienic behavior at Kayanga, Ndama, Chakaruru, Ruicho, and Ihembe community secondary schools.
The photo provided above is the drop holes latrine which is currently used by students. This drop holes latrine has led to poor sanitation and hygiene related diseases, reduced education performance, dignity and cognitive ability of students and increased absenteeism. It is important to note that an estimated 842,000 people die each year from diseases caused by unclean water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene habits. The majority of these are children in developing countries like Tanzania. Research shows that sanitation and hygiene are essential if we are to empower the world's most vulnerable populations. Therefore, providing adequate quality sanitation facilities, coupled with health and hygiene education, is the most effective measure this non-profit organization is taking in preventing infectious disease, increasing education enrolment and performance.
With your support, we hope to significantly improve the lives of the school children at Ndama, Kayanga, Chakaruru, Ruicho, and Ihembe secondary schools, through the construction of quality toilets and improving hygienic behavior. School children are our future leaders.
Project Costs
Construction cost of 20 drop holes latrines for two schools is $15,000.
