In the last October, my mother, who was the sole provider of my family, was involved in a serious car accident. As a result, she suffered from a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple broken bones. Currently, she is out of the hospital and has already recovered so much considering her degree of injury, but she continues to experience disabilities, including cognitive confusion, lack of strength, and speech/communication disorder. Due to these challenges that impacted her ability to live independently, she now requires basic care and supervision from me and my sister. Right now, me and my sister, both college students, are managing our family finances with limited savings, covering groceries, bills, tuition, our home mortgage, and apartment rent where me and my mother reside. (My sister could not move in with us because breaking the university housing contract is expensive.)
