Help us Build Musicians for the Future

We are the voluntary committee of Spink Comhaltas. Our mission is to promote traditional Irish music, song, dance and culture. We do this primarily through encouraging young musicians to learn and perform traditional Irish music, and our musicians range in age from 7 up to 18, at which point they continue their own journey in music.

We prepare students for SCT music examinations, Fleadh Cheoil competitions, other concerts and performances, and encourage our students to learn the values of team-work, commitment, connection to their local community, and self-confidence and social skills.

We have built up a comprehensive music instrument bank over the years which offers low cost access to our members for renting instruments.

This fund raising project is intended to cover the following specific objectives:

• we have taken a loan of €15,000 to invest in and upgrade our teaching facilities to provide better and safer facilities for our students and teachers in a "living with Covid-19" world
• we are repaying this loan over a number of years, with a strategy of repaying the loan through 3 main areas
• 1. generous support from our internal membership, targeted fund-raising performances for our local supporters who can attend events
• 2. some grants which we have qualified for in recognition of the work that we do in music, arts and culture
• 3. a request to our wider group of supporters and followers who are based around the world, which this fund raising page is targeted at and who are not able to support us in other ways, but who are in a position to make a donation.

All funds raised will go directly to repaying our loan. Any surplus funds raised will be reinvested in music instruments and specialist music education for our membership.

We commit to providing regular updates on the progress with our investment in new facilities, status updates on our fund-raising, and some stories on how our musicians are getting on.
