Help Us Bring Rolanda Home

Donation protected
My daughter Rolanda is a kind soul, loved by all who meet her, and very passionate about life. She traveled to Rishikesh, India December 2019, to attend school to receive her yoga certification.  Not only did she accomplish her goal to become a yoga instructor,  she continued her teachings to also receive her yogi certification.

My daughter fell in love with India’s culture.  She opened a business and has spent the last year and a half in Rishikesh teaching, blogging, traveling, and performing her newfound love of music. She has impacted many lives with her music, and her passion towards the Indian people has inspired many.

Rolanda is a daughter, sister, and an aunt who loves her family and friends.  She is unique and beloved by everyone she encounters.

On June 10th, the worst possible event occurred. Rolanda was in a horrific hit and run accident in which a truck struck the motorcycle on which she was a passenger.  The impact threw her off of the bike and the truck drove over her lower body, crushing both her legs. She was left lying on the street unconscious.

Bystanders called authorities and she was rushed to AIIMS Rishikesh Hospital. Her pelvis was fractured, her left leg fractured, and her right leg was broken in three places, which required emergency surgery to insert a metal rod and screws. The break extends to just under her knee. This first surgery was a success, but she has two more surgeries to go.

Since the accident Rolanda has been in excruciating nonstop pain, even with medication.  She still has a torn ACL and nerve damage in her foot, which will, as stated, require two additional surgeries.  These severe injuries have left her unable to walk and she is in constant pain and faces months of therapy and bed rest in order to fully heal.

As her family, we are thankful that she is alive but feel helpless to see an otherwise strong and healthy woman in extreme pain and distress.  Rolanda will need long-term care, bed rest, physical therapy, and follow-up treatments to ensure that she will walk again.  We cannot help shoulder her pain, but we aim to do everything we can to support her on her future journey to recovery.

Our main goal at this moment is to transport my daughter by way of Medical Transport back to the United States where she can receive proper medical care and treatment.  Her experience in the hospital in Rishikesh has been horrific, where she is enduring excessive pain constantly, total neglect, and little to no nutrition or necessary hygiene/personal care unless she pays employees directly. She is receiving meals and water by donations, not through the hospital itself. Although she has two upcoming surgeries and cannot walk, she is being discharged from the hospital today. It is imperative that we transport her back home to the United States so that she can receive the proper surgeries and long-term care in a rehabilitation facility.

Rolanda thanks God every day for the miracle of surviving the incident.  We thank God that she continues to recover despite the terrible circumstances.  She has a huge heart. Despite her pain, she is thinking about others first right now, trying to comfort them, and showing her love.

We ask that you donate, share this request, and pray for Rolanda during this time.  Although she is remaining strong and enduring her pain at this time, the best course of treatment for Rolanda to heal properly is at home, in the United States. The financial impact of her medical bills, transportation, and extended care, is more than we can comprehend or calculate at this time.  Any help goes a long way to support her in her recovery.

Thank you in advance for any support that you can give.  We appreciate your consideration, love, and care.
