How do you describe a true friend? Would it be one that you wish to spend extended amounts of time with, take long walks together, laugh and talk about your day?
This is the friend we were deeply sad to have lost. As one of our favorite fans put it, "Long neckeee?" That he was. Legs that never ended and eye lashes that turned us green with envy. His graceful stride was one of regal magnificence. The opportunity to have had him wash my face with one swathe of his purple tongue was a delirious privilege. Just as we look into the Grand Canyon, it is impossible to drink it all in. Kibo too, looking into his eyes and being drawn into his majestic presence was a fulfillment with no definition but you rejoiced at having had the chance."
For the past 17 years the names of Kibo and Pilgrim have become synonymous with Out of Africa Wildlife Park. These were the two males giraffes who gave "giraffe kisses" to all of those courageous enough to feed treats to them with the treat in their mouths. It was as much of a treat for those people who got the giraffe kiss! On August 20, 2019, we sadly said farewell to our very wrinkly giraffe, Kibo. He left a wonderful legacy of love, oneness and purity with everyone he greeted.
We would like to see Kibo's legacy continue on into the next generation with a new youngster to fill some big shoes and carry the baton. We hope he will continue to spread love and kisses while educating guests on all of his wild cousins. We hope he will touch the hearts of all guests he meets.
We have a young male giraffe in need of a loving, forever home, and with your help, we can bring him into our park family and into all of our lives. We need to reach a goal of $75,000 to professionally transport him to our park, make updates to our habitat and items needed to accommodate an adolescent giraffe. We realize that it is a huge cost, one that we cannot accomplish on our own.
Every little bit counts, and even a dollar donation will help make this little guy's forever home possible.
Thank you for all of the support that has been given to us, not only in recent times, but for the past 31 years. As our guests, you have become part of the Out of Africa family, and have helped contribute to the legacy that our animals leave on earth.
