We never thought we would be here. Adoption was not something that had crossed our mind. In fact, when we said "I Do" (which is quite a story in and of itself) 12 years ago our grand plans for life consisted of two....maybe three...kids, a little land and a dog.
Things started changing about 2 years into our marriage when God got ahold of us and our lives were no longer our own.
Many of you who know us remember the first time we said a very hard "Yes" to taking in our 4 neices July 2012 for nearly a year while their biological mother tried to rehabilitate and get her life together. As much as we had hoped and prayed for a new start, a few short months later they were in need again. We said our second big "Yes" when we agreed to to take in Julia December 2013, this time it would be permanent. We gained a few surprises along the way as well, and our family was growing fast.
The four girls had been divided and we lived life this way for 2 years until July 2015 when we got another call, this time for Kylie. I regret to say that this yes did not come with willingness. We had been through so much hard and it felt like to much to bear. Even though we had seen Gods faithfulness we did not want to walk with Him through this storm again. We pouted and fought against the tugging at our hearts for months.
That was two years ago. We could not possibly know how much God was going to bless us with Kylie. She is truly a gift and one of the strongest girls we know. Despite what she has been through she is full of spirit. Despite all she has lost she is selfless and always willing to share. Despite all who have failed her she is learning to trust. We love her and we are so proud we get to be the ones who watch her bloom.
Even though we have guardianship of her, we would like to adopt her. We are asking for our friends and family to consider helping us cover the cost.
