"So they can smile again. So they can trust again. To give them a new chance".
These are the words of Daniel Stefanica, a middle school principal in Barlad, Romania. Through his small, local organization in Barlad, the Scouts of Arts, he is working to care for Ukranian mothers and children who have fled to Romania to escape the atrocities of the Russian invasion.
Daniel is working one-on-one with women and children who arrive in Barlad, finding them a place to stay and providing for their basic needs. Although many large, international humanitarian organizations have mobilized to help, individuals like Daniel are providing immediate help to the refugees who arrive in his city.
Your donation will be used to provide housing, food, clothing, child care and other essentials for women and children arriving locally in Barlad.
Donations will be sent to Scouts of Art in Barlad, Romania. Daniel Stefanica established this organization in 2012 to help disadvantaged Romanian children develop a sense of dignity, self confidence, and a love for their country and its natural environment. I personally volunteered as a teacher in their summer English camps in Romania in 2015 & 2016, and I can attest to this organization's integrity and effectiveness.
In the wake of the crisis in Ukraine, Daniel, as founder and president of Scouts of Arts, is using this organization to help refugee mothers and children from Ukraine find safety and start new lives. Once their basic needs are met, he is helping the women to find jobs and the children to learn the Romanian language and enter school.
I invite you to watch the video interview I had with two of these women, Iryna and Marina, who are living with their four children in a temporary home Daniel has provided them. They are the families pictured above. We hope their story inspires you to make a donation to help them and more families like theirs.
