Help Tyler Leavitt Fight Cancer

We are seeking your support for our dear friend, Tyler Leavitt’s, cancer treatment.
On Wednesday July 3rd, just 2 days after Tyler’s 37th birthday, the Leavitt family’s lives were turned upside down with the unthinkable news that Tyler has Stage IV Esophageal Cancer. Tyler lives a healthy life. He doesn't smoke or drink, and gets plenty of exercise (especially chasing his kids around)!
Tyler has been a best friend to Justin and I since he and Kristal started dating over 19 years ago. Tyler is known to many as a supportive colleague, genuine friend, caring brother and loving son. But his best role is that of an amazing father to Ruby (11), Emmett (6) and Lennox (3.5) and an extraordinary husband to Kristal (Tees).
Tyler is someone who consistently demonstrates extraordinary selflessness and generosity. He has a natural instinct to help anyone in need, whether they are a friend, loved one or complete stranger. This is evident both in his everyday life and in his choice to work as a Respiratory Therapist. Tyler has always put others before him and is not one to ask for help so we are asking for help, on his behalf.
Tyler is the rock for his family. He is the primary earner, as his wife Kristal, who has health problems of her own, is unable to work. Because of his illness, Tyler is no longer able to work or to take his child for their regular 3 month check-up at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver (8 hours away). This loving family is now in need during the most trying and difficult time of their lives. Along with being an incredible emotional stress for Tyler and his family, cancer is an overwhelming financial burden. Please help to give hope to this family facing such a devestating challenge.
Because of the advanced stage of the cancer at diagnosis, the treatment options for Tyler are limited. He will be going to Kelowna soon (a 4-hour drive from home) to begin radiation and chemotherapy for an undetermined amount of time. The goal is to try to raise enough money to offset the family's lack of income during this trying time. It is our hope that the money raised will assist with the costs of Tyler's treatment and housing while having to be away from home as well as, to allow his family to be with him during his time of need. Presently, it is unknown whether there are any other treatment options to consider but Tyler is a fighter and is willing to undergo any treatment that may help him to get more time with his precious family.
