<div>On December 31st we found out that our sweet pup, Trooper tore his ACL in his back leg. If you know Trooper, you know this is devastating for him. His favorite things to do are run, wrestle, and play tug of war /keep away. This 8+ year old Dutch Shepard loves to play! After getting x-rays and speaking with professionals, the recommendation for Trooper is TPLO surgery. I’ve recently learned this is a common and often highly successful surgery. Unfortunately, this surgery is very expensive, and simply do not have the $7,000 that it costs. For now he is on anti inflammatorys and joint supplements and has been prescribed short leash walks only. Trooper has never been great on a leash and loves to pull. He’s even knocked me over a few times! Our trusted vet says that the injury could heal on its own “usually after 12-18 weeks”, if sticking to short leash walks and trying to keep him calm, but for Trooper, that is very difficult. This is a lifestyle change we are committed to and are trying our best! We’d love to give him the best chances for a successful recovery so he can be back to himself.
