Second wave of the pandemic is raging through South Asia. Transgender/Hijra/Koti communities in Bangladesh have lost employment, living in isolation, many are homeless since they are unable to pay rent.
Trans/Hijra/Koti community are facing severe isolation. Many have lost employment in beauty parlors, entertainment and service sector owing to the second wave and lockdowns in Dhaka. Ms Joya Sikder and her colleagues at Somporker Noya Setu are putting their lives on the risk in order to work with community members, providing them with basic food provisions, masks, and emergency rental provisions.
