Help Toxic Waste Face Get to Miami

Support Toxic Waste Face’s Performance at Miami Art Week!

Each December, the glitterati of the international art world descend upon Miami, Florida to meet and discover the next generation of art stars. This year, Bay Area-based queer performance trio Toxic Waste Face (Jader , Pseuda , and Scam Likely  [aka vainhein] - that’s us!) have the opportunity to partner with SOMArts Cultural Center  to create a brand-new immersive performance, which they will debut at the Satellite Art Fair .

Across the street yet a world away from the more institutional art fair scene, Satellite is known for supporting community-based and experimental work, and for activating unexpected venues. In 2018, Satellite will be held in the parking lot of Miami’s Ice Palace — a former ice factory — and Toxic Waste Face will transform a shipping container with original video content, fantastical and otherworldly costumes and live performance activations exploring the infantilizing effects of technology and social media on the human psyche.

This is a huge opportunity for us - Toxic Waste Face - to bring our uniquely Bay Area take on performance art, avant-drag aesthetics and the intersection of art and technology to the international stage in Miami. Furthermore, our activation at Satellite will represent the first time a community-based arts organization like SOMArts has had the opportunity to present work at Miami Art Week. But, we need your help to get there!

By the generous support of YOU - our friends, fans, and supporters - we’re hoping to raise $5,000 to cover roundtrip airfare to Miami, hotel accomodations for the duration of our stay, and a modest supplies budget for the actual production of this new work. All money raised through this campaign will directly support Bay Area queer performers as we take center stage in Miami!  Thank you for your consideration and continued support!

Ps. If we reach our fundraising goal, we will be able to explore the option of re-mounting this new body of work back in the Bay Area following its debut in Miami - stay tuned!
