<div>Hello everyone my name is Teddie. I am an 18 week old apricot cockapoo and have recently been exploring the world with my mom and desensitising to the big wide world. My mom brought me home when I was just 9 week old where I met my human big brother and sister. I have been showered with lots of love and great leadership but as a young puppy exploring I’m still into absolutely everything. About 2 days ago when nobody was watching It was thought that I’d swallowed something that I shouldn’t. Yesterday morning Sunday 28th June 2026 I became withdrawn and began to vomit, my mom thought I had a stomach bug from a bit of watermelon she gave me the day before as my symptoms was accompanied with diarrhoea but as the day went on I became extremely flat as I was in a lot of pain. My mom picked up on it right away as I just wasn’t my normal zoomie self.

<div>She made an appointment for me at the vets and they admitted me and put me down as a priority for investigation. my mom was in tears as she held and cuddled my limp body before handing me to the vet. After a series of scans and blood test the vet was extremely concerned with how flat I was and the imaging and told my mom I need to have emergency surgery. Mom had not prepared for this as a new dog mom she was still trying to get round to organising insurance for me as she didn’t expect this to happen but it was too late, the price was explained to her and she decided that saving my life was the priority over any bill that came with it.

<div>i was whisked to the operating theatre where my intestines had to be cut open to remove the foreign object I swallowed. There were complications as a third of my intestines were found to be badly bruised because of the obstruction. After surgery I wasn’t out of the woods as the next 12 hours were crucial, with a low body temperature and low blood pressure I took longer to recover.

<div>after what started as a rough night I later settled and my observations were normal and where they expected them to be but told my mom again I’m still not out of the woods as there’s risk of infection and the wound in my intestines breaking down because of peritonitis.

<div>I hope to be well enough this afternoon so my family can visit me but at this point it’s all about time and seeing what happens.

<div>Out of pure love my mom gave me a second chance at life and the cost of this is daunting and will throw my family into hardship for some time so we’re reaching out for help and hope that your love and kindness can help us through what is going to be a very difficult time ahead.

<div>Although the original plan was to raise awareness that it is super important to be vigilant at all times when you have a new puppy because anything can happen it’s now come to light that we’d like to raise awareness when it comes to purchasing your puppies bed as it was the stringy material from my bed that was found obstructing my intestines even though the product stated that it was a calming puppy bed and suitable for dogs. I demonstrated comfort seeking behaviour and nestled on my bed every time I slept and the fabric had been shedding without my mums knowledge until it eventually blocked my intestines and almost cost me my life. Please remember to take out insurance as soon as you possibly can, What has cost my mom massively has saved my life but the alternative would have been to end it when it’d only just begun at 18 weeks old.
