Hi my names Emma, on Sunday 27th April 2025 Luna had a freak accident slicing her leg just below the hock through every tendon ligament artery and was bleeding out in front of my eyes. We could not get into PDSA as they was taking no new clients on, we took her to an emergency private commercial vet where they took her straight for surgery to save her leg and life, they managed after 4.5 hours in theatre to stitch everything back together and over night stay in intensive care. She had had to go back every 3 days to have it checked and bandages changed. The vet bill stands just over 2k that I have agreed to pay back on a payment plan however on our last visit 12/05/2025 they are saying she possibly needs leg amputation as the leg is possibly dying however the cost of this surgery is approx £4000 in which they need to have a down payment “deposit” of £2000 before they will consider booking her in they will not let us see the surgeon again and told us to go to a non profit vet called animal trust I am in the process of discussing this with animal trust they have quoted me without seeing Luna the amputation costs are £750-£1000 that is if they feel she needs it. If they feel she doesn’t she will need a lot of physio therapy and hydrotherapy and possibly to wear a permanent boot. I am asking for the initial cost of amputation if she does not need the amputation after the 2nd opinion then then any donations will go on the cost of therapy afterwards. And anything after that will go towards the payment plan on the original surgery am a very proud person and it has taken a lot for me to do this. But at this point i already have a lot of money in this dog to get her right and I’m now at a point I can do no more. She is my children’s best friend and we as a family are devastated any help will not go unnoticed and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
