<div>My name is Tony Webber, and in 2019 I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. Many people in Australia may have seen my story in the AFR article “The man who fell through every prostate cancer safety net.” Unfortunately, that headline became my reality.

<div>Over the last five years, I have gone through every standard treatment available — anti-hormone therapy, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Each treatment helped for a time, but my cancer has continued to progress. I am now at the final line of treatment available to me: Lutetium-177, a form of targeted radiation that offers real hope when other treatments have failed.

<div>Lutetium-177 is normally funded through Medicare, but I fall into a very rare category — less than 1% of prostate cancer patients — where the disease has spread to the brain, and where there is insufficient protein on the surface of my cancer cells for me to qualify for a rebate.

<div>This means the treatment is only accessible to me privately, and the cost is overwhelming:

<div>	•	6 treatments total = $300,000
</div>
<div>	•	The final 4 treatments will likely need to be done in Perth, using a similar therapy called Terbium-161, requiring additional travel and accommodation costs

<div>I do have some savings, but I am currently unable to work while fighting this disease. I am also supporting my wife and our two young children. My hope is to use my remaining savings to continue caring for them, rather than exhausting everything on medical bills alone.
