Help Tom & Barb Rebuild

Tom and Barb Tomaro are currently living every homeowner’s worst nightmare. Their home is being destroyed by a devastating landslide.
The hillside behind the home started to slide February 25th. As they watched their back yard creep closer to the house, over the next few days, every effort to save their belongings was made. They were forced to watch as their home (which Tom grew up in) was being pushed and destroyed by the enormous power of the moving earth. As the mass continued to push through the back wall of the house, an unfathomable decision was made to spare the damage to the garage portion of the home which was not yet being impacted. The right side – which used to be the main living space – was meticulously torn down. The hope is that by sacrificing the already destroyed structure, some portion of the unaffected side can be saved.
The worst part? Insurance will not cover the loss. In fact, typical homeowners insurance does not cover landslides or mudslides. Generally, “earth movement” is excluded. So even after putting the work into creating and maintaining their home over the years, and paying to protect it, they are left to start over.
The land continues to move and the total scope of the loss is not yet calculated, but with NO HELP from insurance they are facing a huge project to rebuild.
Our hope is to show them how truly supportive their friends and family can be. We would like to help them through the financial stress of this nightmare. Both Tom & Barb are active in the community. Serving on various boards and always helping with charitable causes, they use their drive and ambition to help others. Now it is our turn to help them. The financial burden they are about to encounter will include the stabilizing of the hillside and the rebuilding of their home. Any contribution to ease this stress would be greatly appreciated.
