Help stop foreclosure

Some time last year, my husband enrolled in the The Philadelphia Foreclosure Conciliation program. He wanted to stop the foreclosure while he sorted out our finances and his health. Do you know the expression; we are only 2-3 paychecks from being homeless? He tried to make sure that didn’t happen. But he couldn’t prevent his health from getting worse. In October 2017, a day before his court date he died. Just like that. He left behind a wife and two boys. Ever since then,  I’ve been fighting to keep the house with the help of an advocate from the Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania. But last Friday the court concluded it was over and I am no longer in the program. The bank has the right to move forward with the foreclosure.

This past year I had to grieve but also fight to keep my home. I can no longer fight this alone so, I need the help of my community both friends and family.

Rent in Philly is increasing. The mortgage on this home is affordable once the past due amount is paid. We’ve saved all we can and now we have a deadline of less than a month to come up with the full amount. We need $8,500 more to keep our home.

Every dollar counts. Whatever we can gather can help us keep the house and all the memories it holds. We can keep our photos on the wall and hold on to our home he helped create for his family.
