Help to save Sisses life

I've created this funding campaign for my dear friend Paula who's living in Latvia ( a country where you can't set up these pages). We've been traveling together and we are close friends. So please support her like you'd do it for your close friends next to you. All the donations will go straight to Paula. 

Meet our dog Sisse! She is currently 2 years old. She is an extremely nice and playful dog and enjoys chasing balls most of all.

 

But unfortunately, we can not play chase too often anymore, as she is suffering from a heart condition known as Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Playing too much with her could make her heart fail spontaneously.

 

To simplify, ductus arteriosus is a communication between two major arteries leaving the heart. This connection should have closed after her birth, but it is open in Sisse's heart, causing her little heart to do extra work, and making her feel fatigued more often than usual.

 

Her time left with us is limited by this heart condition. Eventually, her heart will not be able to keep up with the workload. Her lungs will fill with blood, and will regularly need to be drained. Her condition will worsen rapidly. She will grow weaker by the hour... A fate we do not want to imagine.

 

Fortunately, right now we can still operate, and close this artery with surgery. Doctors can perform a minimally invasive procedure in which a special device is deployed inside the PDA via catheters inserted in one of the hind limb arteries. This technique is very effective and safe if performed by experienced individuals. This would ensure Sisse with a healthy and normal lifespan. She would not feel tired all day anymore.

 

This procedure would cost about 5000. An amount, that our family does not have...

 

This dog means a lot to all of us. She is an extremely important family member, loved by many. We give her the best life that we can, and no matter her fate, we are lucky to have her.

 

This surgery would mean the world to us, and we would feel even better, knowing that Sisse can chase all the balls she wants, without risking over-exhaustion.
