This is my home since 2012 and I deeply love it. I live this way because I am an ethnic gypsy Traveller and I have always lived on wheels. The city I live in - San Francisco - has introduced a law that bans RVs unless you sign up for services from their Department of Homelessness and agree to give up your RV. I could never do that, so it means I have to leave town as soon as I can get it together.

My finances are that I am a widow living on SSI of $1200. I am 65. I have terminal breast cancer, so I'm not able to go back to work.

This RV is especially important to me to not lose, because it was the last home I shared with my husband, who died at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. When I am inside the RV, he doesn't feel gone. To lose this RV would be like him dying all over again. As for my own (pending) death, I want to be in here, in my own bed.

I've worked five separate times with San Francisco's Dept of Homelessness and they've promised and promised, but nothing good ever happened. They say crazy is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome. So I'm striking out on my own, in faith, I can save my home and have a private place to live in until I die. I hope I raise enough to (also) purchase a memorial tree for his and my ashes, so also my cremation. If there were enough funds, I would like to have a memorial for my late husband who passed at the beginning of COVID and I've never had opportunity to celebrate his (and my) life.
