Help to make a wish happen
We are 2nd-year Events Management students from University College Birmingham, and we are organising an exciting virtual event for children.
Virtual Event taking place in May is an inviting, safe space for parents and carers and their children to come, read and listen to inspiring fun stories.
According to researchers, parents more often encounter barriers to reading to their children at bedtime. Whether due to workload, lack of time or reluctance to read. Nevertheless, the vast majority of parents are aware of the importance of books and reading with their children.
Numerous studies have shown that reading helps children cope with various life experiences, finding ways to express themselves and understanding different emotions such as fear, loss or shyness. Books also help parents gently bring up difficult topics. The little bit of time we give to children at bedtime strengthens the bond between parent/carer and child.
As part of the Bedtime Stories event, we try to raise money for the Make a Wish charity.
Make a Wish is a non-profit organisation that grants life-changing wishes to children living with critical illnesses for over 35 years. The foundation finances its work through individual contributions, corporate donations, foundations grants and planned gifts. Even though the Coronavirus has stopped or postponed countless wishes, the number of children who are eligible for a wish is still increasing.
Your generosity will support granting wishes and bring hope to the children, which is especially in these difficult times so needed.
Please donate and help reach more children and create hope for them with a wish.
