Help to keep the Bates Family together

Donation protected

After 10 years of trying, Emma & Wayne finally got the amazing news they were going to be parents. Baby Erin arrived on 8th of October.

On the 29th of November their world crashed around them when they discovered Erin had a rare & serious heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallots.

On the 14th December of after lots of monitoring in several different hospitals Erin was sent via ambulance to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

On the 23rd December Erin had her full Fallots heart repair via open heart surgery & spenta week in ICU. She was then was transferred to a cardiac ward but after only 48hrs Erin became very unwell & was red buzzed back to ICU in a serious condition. The family was toldthat Erin had contracted RSV & that they was going to loose their baby girl but against all odds Erin continued to fight.

She was osalated, her lungs collapsed & then she was diagnosed with Broncomalacia and Trachemalacio narrowing of the airways.

For after months of being in ICU & Erin was moved to HDU. After many more tests including a CT scan, MRI & also cath lab to see why Erin was unable to breathe for herself, it appears Erin’s heart is too large and is pushing against her airways as well as all her other issues.

On the 10th April Erin became very unwell. It was then the family were told that she had tested positive for Covid 19.

Emma & Wayne have been told to prepare forErin being in hospital for many more months so that she can grow & get bigger to see if shecan start to breathe for herself without the help of the bipap/cpap machine. If not a likely option is going to be a tracheostomy.

Wayne has returned to work to try & support the family. Emma has been on maternity leave but this is due to end soon which means for her to stay with Erin, she will not be able to return to work right now & will have no income coming in.

Asking for help is the last thing the family have wanted to do but no one expected for Erin to be as poorly as she has been & with this likely to be ongoing for a very long time yet, they need all the help they can get.

Having a poorly child in hospital is a massive emotional, physical & financial burden & unfortunately bills do not stop despite you having to stay with your child.

Any help we can give to help keep Emma withher baby will be much appreciated
