Hi everyone. My name is Khalia and my wife's name is Shyla.
Tinker is more than just our dog—she’s our family, our joy, and the light of our lives. At 9 years old, Tinker is a Dachshund and long-haired Chihuahua mix who still acts like a playful puppy. She loves stuffed toys, squeaky balls, and running as fast as her little legs will carry her across open grass. Tinker has been with us since 2015 when we adopted her and instantly fell in love.
We’ve shared so many beautiful memories. One of the most cherished moments was when Tinker, who was terrified of stairs, finally conquered her fear and took her first step down in 2017. She’s our little helper, always eager to “assist” with anything we do—whether it’s unloading groceries, unwrapping gifts, or opening boxes. She’s part of our daily routine, greeting us with excitement each morning and cuddling into her blankets at bedtime.
Recently, we received heartbreaking news: Tinker has breast cancer. She has two masses—one large and one smaller—that are growing rapidly. Thankfully, her condition is still operable. However, the surgery is critical and needs to happen soon. During the procedure, Tinker will also be spayed, which will lower the chances of the cancer returning.
The cost of the surgery is estimated to be $3,400. While we’ve done everything we can to cover the costs of her tests and x-rays, the financial burden of this surgery is beyond what we can handle alone right now. We’ve been navigating personal medical bills and other challenges over the past few years, and any help to ensure Tinker gets the care she needs would mean the world to us.
Tinker has brought so much love, joy, and laughter into our lives. We can’t imagine a day without her tail-wagging enthusiasm and warm cuddles. This surgery will relieve her pain and discomfort, giving her a chance to get back to the vibrant, playful dog she’s always been.
If you’re able to help in any way—by donating, sharing her story, or sending positive thoughts—it would mean everything to us and Tinker. Thank you for taking the time to read about our precious girl.
