Help Timothy Soar: Support His Pilot Dream

My name is Timothy, and I am a student pilot in Austin, TX and my goal is to become an airline pilot one day. I’m 19 years old and have worked very hard to start my aviation journey, but I need help getting to the finish line.

Over the course of 2024, I worked 60-hour-plus weeks at the hospital to save up money. Here, I helped patients as a nurse aide, transporter, and sitter, as well as a few other tasks they had me do. By December of 2024, my hard work paid off, and I was able to budget and save up enough to pay for my bills in the year 2025 which gives me the freedom to focus on flying while saving up 100% of the money I earn as I work right now. I was also was blessed to use the small sum of money left by my grandfather to fund my private pilot's license, which I am currently in the process of obtaining.

However, after I obtain the private pilot license, I will need three more to continue my journey: the instrument rating, the commercial rating, and the commercial multi-engine rating. In total, these licenses will run about $55,000 in total. As I stated before, I was able to save up enough to get my private, but I do not have the ability to fund the future of my journey on my own. I have looked into loans, but unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of co-signer options, and being only 19 years old, lenders will often overlook me despite my work ethic. I’ve come so far and am not willing to give up this dream, so I’ve decided I will reach out to depend on the kindness of others to help me.

Now, I set my goal as $57,000. The extra $2,000 is because I would like to donate $1,000 to a children’s cancer charity as well as $1,000 to an adult cancer charity. Working at the hospital has given me an up-close lens on how cancer and other diseases affect families and patients, and I want to help out and give back as much as I can.
