Hi my name is Jamie Olson, I am the step-daughter of Timothy Samuelson my mothers husband of 22 years.  He has been one amazing grandpa, husband to my mother,  and step-father to me.  I wanted to set up this GoFundMe account for him on my families behalf. Tim was diagnosed with Covid 19, on November 1st 2020.  He had some very unusual symptoms three days prior to  being diagnosed.  Tim's symptoms consisted of swelling of the throat,  which caused a hard time for him to eat, drink or breathe.   When Tim arrived at Dickinson Hospital in Dickinson ND, when they tested him he had sat almost 10 hours in a chair waiting for a bed in the surrounding areas to open up.  That evening when he was being airlifted to Fargo they had to return back to the Dickinson since he could not breathe lying down so they had to sedate and intubate him to get him safely to Fargo Essentia Hospital.   He finally arrived at Essentia in Fargo ND early morning. They immediately placed Tim on his stomach and he was shortly after put on a ventilator.  About two weeks later Tim was slightly improving but was still unable to breathe on his own.   At that point they decided to put a trachea in.  Three or four days after his trachea was in our family was able to zoom him.  Tim was unable to speak, so the doctor would try and read his mouth and hand jesters to inform us with what he was trying to say.   As the days went on, 42 pounds lighter, Tim had several tests and biopsies done while still in the hospital.  The doctors main focus during this time was to get Tim to be able to pass the swallowing test so he could get the trachea removed. On the floor Tim was placed on, the doctors and nurses called him their success story since he made it through the horrible virus.  Tim was released from the hospital on Dec. 3rd 2020.  After arriving home,  nurses, PT, OT were at the house at least 1 to 3 times per week for about three weeks to get him walking and swallowing appropriately, and taking his vitals every time they arrived.   After being home and all the testing he has been going through, he had a biopsy on a mass in his right lung they had saw during his stay at Essentia with Covid.  After that the following week he was scheduled for bladder surgery due to the virus.  The surgery was successful.  On the 15th of January my parents received a phone call stating the mass on his right lung was Cancer.  He is now doctoring and will be going through various tests and possible surgery.   If this isn't enough my parents received a email stating Tim's company is being bought out.  Tim will no longer have a job or insurance.  I wanted to do this GoFundMe for my parents because of all the horrible things Tim has be going through.  Any help would be greatly appreciated and would be used for all the medical and travel expenses to come.   I would like to thank you for all your support.
