A year ago, I created this page. A survivor who finally worked up the courage to ask for help. I’d already been through so much- medical trauma, domestic violence survivor, childhood trauma that created chronic-PTSD. I’ve had chronic health issues and disabilities since infancy. The world judging my face and my story before I even get a chance to tell it. It’s beyond exhausting. So I reached out for help.
And I was lured into another trap. What was supposed to be my safe haven became another fight for survival. Another betray. Another lesson in how cruel people can be when they know you’re vulnerable. I don’t say this to scare you, I say this because transparency and vulnerability is the only way I know how to live anymore.
let me tell you about me.
I’m a former pediatric nurse who dedicated my career and life pouring everything I have into caring for everyone else but me. I held peoples hands while they cried in pain, I fought for them all the while ignoring my own cries for help, my own need to fight for survival. I loved that work. It gave me purpose. But the cost was enormous, I almost lost myself.
I'm a woman with a facial difference, living in a society that judges the different. I've spent my life being stared at, whispered about, underestimated, and dismissed before I even opened my mouth. You learn to develop armor. But armor is heavy, and it doesn't pay the bills.
And I'm someone who has lived with chronic illness and disability since I was an infancy, medical trauma isn't something that happens to you once — it's reoccurring. I’m still fighting doctors who won’t listen to me.
I've asked for help from the
organizations that claim to support people like me and was denied every time. So here I am. Still asking for help.
I’m just asking for your basic living expenses. I’m not asking for luxuries. I have my own bills to pay. I just need to survive.
Thank you for reading this. I mean it. Reading and sharing means more than you think.
love and light,
Tiffany
