Meet Tic-Tac. She's a rescue from Texas who took about six years to find her forever home, and have been making up for lost time by loving with complete abandon.
She spends much of the day snoozing in the sun with her partner in crime, Rocket.
She's extremely treat motivated. This old dog has been learning lots of new tricks!
When we decided it was time to adopt, we knew that we wanted a bonded pair. Two dogs to play with each other, keep each other company, and double the cuddles. We were extremely lucky to meet Rocket and Tic-Tac through Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, a duo of small dogs found wandering the dusty roads of Texas, filthy and alone, except for each other. On August 4th, after spending a couple of months with a fantastic foster family, they came to live with us in their forever home.
No one knows just how long they were on their own for, or even exactly how old they are, but judging by the amount of dental work that Tic-Tac needs, these dogs have never been properly cared for. Though we cannot know just how bad her teeth are until she is put under for a cleaning and probing, the cost of an extraction can get well over $1,000, and even more if both teeth need to be removed. Saving enough money to handle the worst-case scenario will take months and our darling Tic-Tac needs this procedure sooner rather than later. We’re looking to raise $2,000, which should be enough to handle any issues that come up. Any amount left over would go toward Rocket’s own dental work next year - he needs a baby tooth extracted, and depending on how set his adult tooth is, it may need to come out as well. Unfortunately, we have to wait until he has been cleared of heart worms before the vet will perform the procedure on him, so we have until at least April to save for that.
Both of these dogs have been neglected but are finally getting the love and care they need. Tic-Tac's care is most urgent, and we need your help to get her into the vet as soon as possible!
