My little sister should be celebrating. She just welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world and has finished her degree in Criminal Justice. Sadly, she has to battle Stage IV Endometrial (lining of the womb) cancer and undergo (at least) 13 months of chemotherapy.
Tiarra was diagnosed in 2015 with endometriosis. She had a laparoscopy, a biopsy, and was then put on steroids. 2 years later, during her second pregnancy, a tumor was discovered and then removed during an emergency C-section. Following the procedure, we thought everything was ok until she decided to visit the emergency room due to excessive bleeding and pains in her pelvis and stomach. A ruptured cyst was found that had become infected, and while treating the cyst, doctors decided to perform another biopsy. It was then they discovered cancer, which had spread to her pelvis, stomach, and lymph nodes in her groin.
She has to undergo at least 13 months of chemotherapy, but since another tumor was found, radiation therapy has been put on hold until it is removed. She is currently being treated with a combination of chemotherapy, medication and hormone therapy.
My sister has a big heart and loves her family. Our uncle recently lost the use of his legs after a stroke. His care was initially put in the hands of our elderly grandmother who was also dealing with the loss of our grandfather. Without a second thought, she moved her entire life from Charlotte, NC to New Bern, NC to help them both, bringing her 2 young daughters with her. She is caring, kind and fearless and always has been.
Tiarra can't work while being treated. Even still, she works part-time in order to support her 2 young daughters: ages 5 and 1. Your donations will go towards medical expenses as well as living expenses for her and little Niyalah and Zaniyah.
