Hi All!
I am Tiana Fullbright and I have had a recent setback that has caused me to fall behind on my rent and I am not ashamed to say I need help!
In November, my car was towed, and I was unable to get it out before exuberant fees added up and the car went to auction. I was planning to sell my car in December in order to pay for my January and February rent to allow myself time to enter back into the workforce full time. I was trying to work with my apartment community manager to see if they could work with the tow company to release my car as I paid $75/monthly for parking since we moved here in 2021. The issue was that my car had not been registered with the tow company since 8/2022; which was the month/year after I signed my new lease. The tow company decided to run my plates the week of Thanksgiving (11/2024). It was told to me that upon signing my new leases, each time it should have been communicated to me to renew my registration with the tow company as it is not automatic (probably common sense for those familiar with this type of living situation).
Well, maybe it was just timing, but I am happy to report that they have changed towing companies since then and communicated with the apartment community so no one else has to deal with this nightmare. They even halted any towing for three weeks to allow time for the community to register their vehicles.
I live in Downtown Dallas, so not having a car is not my issue (as I was going to sell it anyway); however, not having the proceeds from my car is my issue. I did have a part time contract job that took care of other expenses, but that contract abruptly ended in January. I am happy to report that I begin my new full-time role on 2/24 in the only industry I’ve ever known since I was 18 (mortgage). And, yes, I was open to other industries as well.
For those that don’t know, I took some time off to make my health (mental) a priority. Fortunately, I had the savings and funds to allow me to do so. I mention this part for mental health awareness and to assure anyone who is willing to assist me during this unfortunate time that this type of request is not customary for me as I am typically a private person who is usually on the giving end of this type of situation.
I have reached out to local charities, churches, etc…but to no avail and time is of the essence. My hope is to go into this new job not having to worry about eviction proceedings looming over me.
God bless and be well!
Tiana Fullbright
