Help Thor fight FIP!

Hello, my name is Thor. I am a real life Maine Coon cat. My coloration is called Classic Silver Tabby.

Last year, I found my mommy when I left my cat mama and came home to live with my real family. They love me very much and were so thrilled when I came into her life as a kitten. All the other cats in the house get along with me just fine and they love me, even when they don’t get along with each other all the time. Mommy says I am the tie that binds our family together.

But unfortunately, about a month ago, we found out that I have something called FIP, Feline Infectious Peritonitis. Diagnosing me was very difficult and frustrating but we ran out of other options that it could be. The vet says I have “Dry FIP.” As my blood work got worse and worse (I got anemic, my blood isn’t working, and I didn’t respond to antibiotics), mommy got more and more worried. But then we found hope! There is a treatment. But - Treating me is going to be very expensive. I will need at least two weeks of injections every day, followed by 10 weeks of pills at least once a day. If you want to help me fight this, I am going to need 84 days (12 weeks) of treatment followed by 84 days of observation. Mommy has to do the injections for me herself and cancelled all her summer plans to try to keep me going. She is terrified that she will run out of money to finish treatments for me.

I started treatment 7/16/21, and need this treatment consistently for another 11 weeks. We get to pay by the week. I should be done with treatment by mid-October and be able to go into “observation”. I was very naughty for the first few days of treatment but then my mommy found out that refrigerating the injections really helped me and so now we do that and I am a very good boy. Mommy tries to get the injections over with quickly and I get a special creamy lickable treat called a “Churu” and I really like that.

Thor is a purebred Maine Coon and is a

such a special creature. Despite the treatment being painful, he comes running to me when I call him and I swear he knows we are helping him. Thor is the smartest cat I’ve ever known and is almost dog-like in his personality. We don’t want to lose our precious baby.
