Hi, my name is Bill Goff, we are trying to build a house for orphans Thomas, Kevin and their 5 siblings. Their old mud house with thatched roof was washed away during a recent storm. Many homes in Kenya are headed by the eldest orphan after the parents die. Thomas had four younger siblings but one died few Months ago from starvation. Kevin had three siblings and also lost one to starvation recently. So we had both families move in together at Thomas' place a few Months ago. and we were able to help them with clothes and some food. but as mentioned above, a recent storm destroyed the old house they were living in. A neighbor welcomed them into his house for a few days, but the other night made them leave because there wasn't enough food for everyone, and the man was already struggling to keep his own children from starving. That night Thomas and all the siblings slept outside in a field of bananas. The following day I suggested they go back and talk to the neighbor, telling him we will supply them with some food while the new house in being constructed. He agreed, and the children are now out of the bananas and back to sleeping on the floor of the neighbors house. They are so thankful for the help.

 

We have also received three proposals for construction of a new house, and can accomplish building the house and small attached kitchen for total of $3,500.
