Help Thomas bring coffee culture to Nigeria

Thomas is a like-minded coffee enthusiast who is seeking to make a difference - both for himself and for his University Campus. I am helping him to generate funds for his project, but do not take it from me - here is his story in his own words:

Hi, I am Thomas Frank, a third year student of Obafemi Awolowo University studying Political Science. I am raising funds to start a coffee cart driven with sole purpose of making our campus more conducive for learning and fuel students like me to greatness.

Education has always been fundamental and essential to the development of a nation and quality education a basic right every human should have access to. But then Education in Nigeria accounts for just 6.7% of our annual budget and as to every fundamental sector, is largely underfunded. This reflects in poor facilities, lack of adequate classrooms and access to quality education which plays a huge part in shaping and nurturing talents for national development.

3 years just like everyone at a point, I was super excited to get into my dream university in Nigeria’s historic city of IFE known for learning and culture grooming excellent minds and ordinary people making significant impact in the world. Sadly, I was met with the harsh realities surrounding how poorly funded our schools are and also witnessed first hand how students like me struggle with productivity learning under these conditions. I felt short changed and I knew I was not alone so I decided to take a step and have had my friend join me on this mission of creating the future we want.

I've always viewed business as a way of solving real problems facing humanity while having fun and making impact in the society through conscious and actionable steps. And so, the idea of starting a coffee cart to help fuel our campus and also actively seek to make an impact in our communities was conceived.

With your help we are going to start a coffee cart on campus where delicious and healthy coffee will be brewed freshly by each cup, create a community of people pushing boundaries daily and lastly drive change and make a social impact through a coffee initiative called coffee4change.

Our aim with the campaign coffee4change is to use change donated at our cart, to help make our classrooms better and more conducive for learning and actively seek to drive change in our community and not be bystanders any longer.

We've worked and refined our idea for the past three years and the journey has been amazing knowing that we're building something that precedes us and gives everyone the power to create the future they want.

We’ve built everything so far from our savings and with the help of a benefactor but there’s only so much we can save as students. We're almost close to launching and can't wait to serve our first cup of coffee on campus but we need one final push to help make this a reality.

With 6.500 EUR you will be helping us to achieve three very important things;

1.Fund the materials for the construction of a coffee cart.

2.Gaining a business permit to operate on campus.

3.Acquiring resources to stock the cart with supplies for at least four months.

All of these will go a long way to getting this initiative off the ground.

And finally Nigerian schools will begin a never ending journey in upgrading its facilities to finally support education of the highest levels.

We are building this dream together and I can't wait to be sharing stories of remarkable achievements made by Nilis's customers and the numerous upgrades that have been brought to campus with the inception of this enterprise.

Kindly spread and share this story!
