<div>In the heart of Gaza, amidst the rubble and the roar of planes, I find myself, Aya, a 24-year-old young woman, trying to sow hope in a world where hope is killed every day. Married to Kamal, a quiet 30-year-old, and our wonderful and sweet three-year-old son, Hussein. Little Hussein doesn't know the meaning of war, but he remembers its sounds more than his own laughter. Our lives are filled with fear, hunger, and anguish. Every time we've tried to build something, the bombings come to destroy it. Hussein's first house was destroyed on top of his memories. We miraculously survived; it saved us from death, but it didn't save us from displacement.

<div>We fled once, then twice, then a third time... and we only took with us images of the past, a little dry bread, and many prayers.
</div>
<div>We stayed in a tent, not a house, but it protected us from the open sky. The tent shook in the wind, and Hussein cried on the cold nights.
</div>
<div>I hid my tears from Hussein, singing a simple song to make him forget the sound of the explosions and the winter cold. Kamal used to go out every day to get a piece of bread or a drop of water.
</div>
<div>We saw and continue to see death, but we are still alive. I remember... One night, a nearby rocket exploded, shrapnel flew, and the air burned, but the tent remained standing, as if protected. An example, of many moments, where we have miraculously survived.
</div>
<div>Despite everything, we have not lost our humanity.
</div>
<div>Kamal helps neighbors, and Aya cooks whatever is available for those who can't find enough to eat. Hussein... plays among the rubble, smiling, planting life in the death of the city. In the midst of fear, he is a symbol of resilience.

<div><strong>“We are not numbers.” “We are breathing souls, beating hearts, and we are not alone.”</strong>
</div>
<div>Despite fear, hunger, and displacement, we maintain hope. Every night I look at Hussein sleeping in my arms and whisper to him: <strong>“There must come a day when I can live with dignity, a day when I am not afraid, or hungry, or sleeping under a tent.”</strong>
</div>
<div>We are alive, but we do not live like other people. Hussein is a child. He doesn't know why he is hungry and why when he cries there is no milk.
</div>
<div>We don't want anything big, we just want to live. If you can help us, even with an invitation, a bite to eat, or a small donation... we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

<div>En el corazón de Gaza, entre los escombros y el rugido de los aviones, me encuentro yo, Aya, una joven de 24 años, que intenta sembrar esperanza en un mundo donde la esperanza se mata cada día. Casada con Kamal, un joven tranquilo de 30 años, y nuestro maravillos y lindo hijo Hussein de tres años. El pequeño Hussein no sabe el significado de la guerra pero recuerda sus sonidos más que su propia risa. 
</div>
<div>Nuestras vidas están llenas de miedo, hambre y angustia. Cada vez que hemos intentado construir algo, los bombardeos llegan para destruirlo. La primera casa de Hussein fue destruida encima de los recuerdos. Sobrevivimos milagrosamente, nos salvó de la muerta, pero no nos salvó del desplazamiento.
</div>
<div>Hemos huidos una vez, luego dos, luego una tercera... y solo llevamos con nosotros las imágenes del pasado, un poco de pan seco y muchas oraciones.
</div>
<div>Nos alojamos en una tienda de campaña, no en una casa, pero ésta nos protegía del cielo abierto. La tienda se sacudía con el viento y Hussein lloraba en las noches frías.
</div>
<div>Yo ocultaba mis lágrimas a Hussein, cantándole una canción sencilla para hacerle olvidar el sonido de las explosiones y el frío del invierno. Kamal solía salir todos los días a buscar un trozo de pan o una gota de agua.
</div>
<div>Vimos y seguimos viendo la muerte, pero seguimos vivos. Recuerdo...Una noche, un cohete cercano explotó, la metralla voló y el aire ardió, pero la tienda permaneció en pie, como si estuvieran protegiendo. Un ejemplo, de muchos momentos, donde milagrosamente hemos sobrevivido. 
</div>
<div>A pesar de todo, no hemos perdido nuestra humanidad.
</div>
<div>Kamal ayuda a los vecinos y Aya cocina lo que hay disponible para aquellos que no encuentran suficiente para comer. Hussein... juega entre los escombros, sonriendo, plantando vida en la muerte de la ciudad. En medio del miedo, es un símbolo de resiliencia.
</div>
<div><strong>“No somos números” “Somos almas que respiran, corazones que laten, y no estamos solos”</strong>
</div>
<div>A pesar del miedo, el hambre y el desplazamiento, mantenemos la esperanza. Todas las noches miro a Hussein durmiendo en mis brazos y le susurro: <strong>"Debe llegar un día en que pueda vivir con dignidad, un día en que no tenga miedo, ni hambre, ni duerma bajo una tienda de campaña"</strong>
</div>
<div>Estamos vivos, pero no vivimos como otras personas. Hussein es un niño. Él no sabe por qué tiene hambre y por qué cuando llora no hay leche.
</div>
<div>No queremos nada grande, sólo queremos vivir. Si podéis ayudarnos, aunque sea con una invitación, un bocado o un pequeño donativo… os lo agradecemos de corazón.
</div>
<div>Desde Gaza, desde la tienda, desde las cenizas, seguimos en pie, <strong>pero os necesitamos.</strong>
