Help a Family Reclaim The Home they just Purchased

Raising funds to help my family get in their home. My dad and stepmom were already on a deed to a property, which is a small cabin, and the person that was also on the deed failed to pay the taxes for 4 years, and it was going for auction in May. Due to the property going for auction, the place they were living in and trying to buy was sold out from under them. They were unable to get a mortgage or a loan on property they were living in with $6,000 in back taxes being owed on the other property. The other owner that lived in the property and failed to pay for 4 years. Not to mention he had tenants in the property these years and still failed to pay the taxes but was collecting rent.

My parents contracted to buy the property, paid the individual and they closed on the property the end of June. The other owner and his tenant have since failed to leave and now my parents are homeless.

It's sad but in order to get the individual and his tenant out of the property we have to evict them in separate proceedings.

We have tried doing this ourselves and the laws are not in our favor. Since covid there are a lot of new rules and regulations in evictions even if you are the owner of the property and had given the money to someone to leave and the property is no longer belongs to them they can apparently live there and you can't do anything about it without going to court.

We've been quoted anywhere from $4,000 - $5,000 in attorney fees. Meanwhile, my parents have put everything they own in storage and are continuously racking up bills for a property that they own but cannot live in.

The prior owner and the tenant are trashing the property while they live there and it's going to cost my dad and my stepmom thousands of more dollars to get the property where it should be.

My parents and I also rescued a dog from the property that was severely neglected. He couldn't walk and was in a lot of pain. At the vets he tested positive for Lyme, anaplosmosis, ear and eye infection, and was severely anemic. I has cost me $800 to $900 thus far. He is now doing much better and even slightly running around. I have been trying to work with the Oneida County Sheriff's Department to file charges so far I haven't gotten anywhere.

Any amount would be appreciated.
