Support the Zweigs After Fire Loss

My name is Lily Zweig, and I am here to advocate for my family.

On Wednesday, my family lost our home -- our forever home -- to the Pacific Palisades fire. For us, this was not just four walls. It was the home I came home from the hospital to. The home that raised my sister and me, loved us, and kept my family safe. It was where friends gathered before making nightly visits to the bluffs. It was the backdrop of the past 35 years of my family's lives. Gone in an instant, taking with it every memento, every photograph. It was a mirror of my family and an extension of everything that we are. Every item in our home had a story: objects of my grandparents' and my uncles' -- items that told the story of our family: past, present, and future. Words will never measure the pain we are feeling.

As we have said to the outpouring of people who have asked: we lost absolutely everything, and absolutely nothing -- we still have each other.

As many of you know, my parents are the two hardest working, selfless people around. We lost our house on Wednesday, and they were at work on Thursday -- and have not stopped since.

A message from one of my mom's beloved patients that says it all, "Her ability to not only put 1 foot in front of the other, but with a smile on her face and gratitude is nothing I ever could’ve imagined would be possible under these circumstances... She really is an absolute pillar of strength and is holding up even outside of your presence. What an amazing and inspirational role model you have for a mom."

We are overwhelmed by the love and support of our friends and family. It feels oddly familiar to the pandemic except we can do this one with hugs! The recovery will be daunting but we now have been reminded that we do indeed have a strong village who will lovingly embrace us and we are learning to say YES to its support. We will be using these funds solely for unreimbursed expenses. Thank you from the bottom of our shattered hearts, the Zweigs.
